note: "‘Mountain’ is the third in the geologically inspired Landforms EP series by 10-20, which span an imaginary journey through the architectural and geographic ruin of near-future hyperstitional landscapes. The four tracks that comprise this EP, take the vertigo of an elevated view, the oxygen-thin climate, the affective disorder of Ballardian myth, and shape these elements through sound manipulation; Shards of sonic debris tumble past unsteady lurching rhythms, start-stop vertical chasms, and the unsteadying winds of hazy memory. From the ascendant blunted groove of ‘Wercc’, to the beatific vista of ‘globe’, from the dizzying heights of ‘majik’ to the woozy summit of ‘littoral’, these four tracks coalesce into a coherent third stage of the journey, building on the two previous episodes, ‘Island’ and ‘Lake’. The series will come to a climax with the release of the fourth episode ‘Isthmus’ due in April, a limited run physical artefact, taking the form of a blue vinyl 7″." - distributor.

note: "Highpoint Lowlife consistently surprise, never sticking to one style, and never ever serving up formulaic music, which brings us to the new EP release for 10-20. Lodged firmly somewhere between electronic, dubstep, dub techno and IDM, 10-20 take us to other worlds. “Overloam’d” oozes a claustrophobic ambience as the machines click and stagger, “Endzone” skews off kilter, turning in on itself until it emerges off kilter again. “Boat” oozes the hauntology unashamedly embraced by the label, but underpinned with heavier beats and percussion, the machines keeping a rhythmic balance, while the closer “GolgothA” could be the 2010 equivalent of the 80’s cult film Johnny YesNo hallucination sequence, paranoid dreams and uneasy, unsettling nightmarish visions.

It’s the lack of compromise I admire from Highpoint Lowlife and artists such as 10-20, although releasing some cutting edge electronic and dubstep music, still refuse to be pigeonholed, making the conscious choice to act outside of the square, making the listener re-evaluate their preconceptions on the music they hear. Another label that needs to be explored further to fully appreciate the depth of vision its artists hold."

note: 'I’m still exploring the album, which has layers and layers of rhythm and sound woven together into beguiling shapes. The new EP is similar, only denser. The two bookending tracks “Pol” and “Thing From Inner Space” both feature relentless, gurgling rhythms that churn away sounding both liquid and metallic at the same time. The rhythms are clear, and yet the beats are as solid as treacherous quicksand and sticky as glue. Already Davenport has developed a way of submerging his melodies in the background, so that they register almost subliminally. Thing From Inner Space has ghostly echoes of Karoli like guitar (is the Inner Space a reference to the legendary Can studio, or am I reading to much into things?). “Pol” relies on synth apparitions that quixotically appear and disappear.'
